Listening to your Conscience..
Many a times, we hear
our elders saying, "Don't go against your conscience, 'coz it will land
you in trouble". But most of the time, we do actually go against it and
end up making a lot of mistakes. And then we say proudly, "I learnt from
my mistake". But why make a mistake and learn, when our conscience clearly
tells us that it is a mistake already.
Being human, we tend
to be curious towards what is denied to us. So, when our conscience says,
"You shouldn't be doing this", we seldom pay attention and go on to
do it anyway. This sometimes results in huge blunders or rarely accidental
success.
But first lets know,
What is CONSCIENCE?
It is a set of
instinctual principles that is inherent to all sane human beings. Some might
call it as MORAL sense and some might acknowledge it as the Speech-of-Soul.
Whatever be it, it is an inner voice, which calls out when we are doing
something unacceptable and points out a better way.
People say that
"LOVE is BLIND". In fact, its not true. People in love often over
rule their conscience. For example, a guy falls in love with a happily married
woman. She has no necessity to return his feelings, but out of pure lust, she
reciprocates. The guy knows that, its just pure lust that she has for him, but
he deludes himself that she is in love with him. And when finally, she breaks
up with him, he blames and begrudges her. They guy stepped forward in spite of
knowing the sham, making a mistake and learning from it, instead of simply
listening to his conscience.
Someone would say,
its the way of life. But is it? You make a mistake, and you regret it. You live
with that regret and still bluff yourself saying you don't. Instead, you can
simply choose to listen to your conscience and make a beautiful life.
Same thing happens,
with education, in relationships, in crisis, in day-to-day life. And still, we
choose not to listen to our conscience. And we all know, that we are the ones
to blame, even though we square our shoulders and say in defense, "To err
is human and to forgive is divine". Well, lets hope our conscience
forgives us, lest we live with a guilty conscience.
