Retirement

We enter the world crying, but smile at mother's love, and slowly we learn to rejoice, and count the blessings from above. We cry on first day to school, we don't let go of parents hand, but then we make friends, and they become our own band. We work hard to get to college, the education for bright future, tears and tantrums and exams, ending in the success we capture. We land in a job that feeds us, it makes us both happy and sad, but it gives us a sense of achievemnt, a triumph over the good and bad. Then too soon it is that time, when life tells you to start over, yes it is the retirement time, when time starts to go slower. Life gives you more time now, to catch up with what you missed, to play and bounce with your kids, and your wife waiting to be kissed. There's time now to bring back, those hobbies that you left half way, those vacations that you planned, on the beachy shores of the bay. Retirement is just a reminder, that life has been w...

I want those days back

I want those days back When I laughed with my heart And friends made promises To never let go, never be apart When I could play all the day With not a worry in my mind When I could hide anywhere Yet my friends would find I want those days back When I could smile and win When nothing was difficult And enemity faded with a grin When I could eat with greed Yet could always share anything I could be just as choosy Yet accept all and every thing I want those days back When I could hug and cry When it was alright to lose And I was encouraged to try When the day started lazy and The night came without a hurry When change would bring tears Yet the past was easy to bury I want those days back When I could be more me When I could talk like me And I could live like me I want those days back...

Gummadikaya donga ante bhujaalu thadumukunnattu

So, first let me tell you the story behind this proverb. There was a rich landlord who had a pumpkin growing and selling business. The business was going well until one day the landlord noticed that his sales were dropping. It was not by much but there was a definite drop in the sales. So, he started going through the entire process of selling to find out what was going wrong. So he went to the pumpkin farm and saw all the farmers honesty growing the pumpkins and then reaping them. He went to the market and found his shops operating without a glitch. Finally, he went to the storage and found that instead of the hundred jute bags that held the pumpkins, only 98 were there. Every week he went to the storage and found that two bags were missing. One night he decided to go and and find out the thief himself. He went, hid himself behind a bush and saw his night watchmen patrolling the storage alert. He suddenly jumped out of the bushes and shouted aloud. “WHO DARES STEAL MY PU...

A Place of Study

Places of ‘Study’ Schools, Colleges, Universities, Academies, Alma Maters, Multiversities – all these educational institutions come into your mind when you are asked about places of study. But what is a place of study? Just a place where we can gain knowledge? No. Home – Schooling Knowledge can be gained anywhere. In the olden days, children were home-schooled. They were taught moral values, their family profession and survival skills. But, at home, their knowledge was adulterated by prejudices and superstitions that their adults believed and passed on to their children. Also, a continuous form of schooling wasn’t there, which made it impossible for the children to gain an uninterrupted insight into things they were taught. Single Gurukuls Then came the concept of common-schools or gurukuls. A teacher established a small school of philosophy, and taught based on his own set of skills and thoughts. Students from different backgrounds received the same knowledge, so the...
